Test Week

Last week was test week. We had to do a star reading and comprehension test. Those two tests and our math test involved a booklet. They took a long time to finish, but I tried my hardest.
 We also had to do a spelling test. I was allowed to do all 100 words! I didn't get them all right though but I did extremely well! Then it was time to do a writing sample. We had to write a report about Pets day. Tomorrow we'll be doing the Ikan Test!

Interesting Fact Of The Week

Did you know that the biggest horse in the world record is Sampson the Shire. He was 21.2 1/2 hands tall, born in 1846.
Wow I can't believe that!

My Weekend

In the weekend Bridgitte and Elena came over to play.
 First we played with the barbies. They went to a  pink glamour party and to school. We talked and played some Singstar.
After that we were really hungry and it was time to have Morning Tea. "Mmmm yum chocolate cupcakes!" we all said together.
Bridgitte and Elena taught  my sister and I  how to play lots and lots of fun games. My favourite game was Wars, when we had two teams and we had to throw balls at each other and battle on the battlefield. We had lunch and then decided to go down to the swamp.
After walking through the paddock and over the fence we made some huts and bridges. The swamp was right beside the road so we saw Bridgitte and Elena's mum go past. "It's time to back!" shouted Elena. "Ok." We all replied.
When we got  back we had to hose off  all the mud from the swamp. Bridgitte and Elena's mum was there looking around our garden. We quickly played the card game Egg before it was time for them to go. "Time to go!" Shouted Bridgitte and Elena's mum.
After that they were off. I hope that they can come again and maybe stay the night.

Cluster Athletics

Last Wednesday ages eight and up got to go to the Cluster Athletics at the YMCA. We were split into six groups, junior, intermediate and senior boys and girls. The events were as same as usual, but one event I had never heard of before and I got third in it! It was standing long jump. I was in the final for the fifty metre final and the two hundred metre final which I got third in. My favorite part of the day was doing high jump because I got third when I expected to get seventh.  The day was fun, exciting and better organized then the Athletics at Cooks Gardens. I hope that next year they will have the Cluster Athletics at the YMCA again!

How To Have A Good Holiday In Port Jackson Fudge

Ingredients                                

1 excited family                                         

1 car

1 house

1 cousin and girlfriend

3 big fishing rods

1 rocky beach

1 tiny dog

Method

 

Grab 1 excited family and crush them into a car.

Stir in a house.

Grate over 1 cousin and a girlfriend .

Sift  in three big fishing rods.

Put it in a rocky beach.

Slice 1 tiny dog and sprinkle it over the top.

Leave to set for four days.

Serve cold .

Enjoy!

My Alien

A few weeks ago we made aliens out of play-dough. Then we had to write a story about them and film them. Here is my story.

Today NASA  received information that there are life forms on Saturn. Lauren P,  space explorer reported back via satellite that she had found a new life form. This life is reported as being skinny as if it was only skin and bones. Lauren found it sleeping in her hair when she woke up yesterday morning. She reported back that it blended in with Saturn because it was yellow, pink and cream coloured and that it looks cute, but actually it is very dangerous, 'cause it nests in your hair and sucks your blood,  that's what happened to Lauren. The strange creature made some beeping noises as if it was trying to talk to Lauren. It was reported as 10cm tall, but it jumps 89cm high. It's an amazing creature, but apparently it rears up all the time! It has green hair and swirly ruby horns. It also has pink polka dots. Lauren has named this life form the Phillipa.

  

Mathex

Last week it was Mathex. I was in the year five Mathex. We had to try and answer twenty questions. If a question was too hard you could pass, but my team didn't pass and we got up to question twenty and answered nineteen questions correctly!

 In the end my team came first but we didn't stop the clock. Maybe next year my team might stop the clock.

The Jabberwocky

Have you heard of the Jabberwocky, the Jubjub bird or the Bandersnatch?
Well it was in a poem written by Lewis Carroll. Lewis made up words and then put them into his poem. Then it was turned into a play.
At school we are putting on the play the Jabberwocky. I am playing the role of the mean Mayoress. I can't wait!

Baby Spiders

Are you scared of spiders? Well you mustn't be scared of baby spiders. They are small little creatures that make webs to catch flies. So you should be thankful!
 Baby spiders parachute with silk.
 The spider's kingdom is Animalia, their phylum is Arthropodo, their class is Archnida and their order is Araneae. Baby spiders make webs out of silk witch they use to parachute with.
 Baby spiders live world wide  except for Antarctica. Baby spiders usually live in gardens.
Their usual diet is flies. There are 109 families of spiders and 40,000 species.
 You may think  baby spiders don't matter that much but they do!

Andy Warhol And My BeFunky!!

This week at school we have been doing our own Andy Warhols. We had to use four different affects on the same photo and then put it together. I am very proud of mine and I can't wait until our next art project. Andy was born on the 6th of August 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States and died in Feburary 22cnd 1987 in New York City, New York , United States. His period of art was Pop Art. He painted things over pictures.









Super Fact Of The Week!

Did you know that the oldest person in the world was Jeanne Louis Calment.
 She died at the age of 122 years and 164 days in 1997!

Flight!!

Today we went to the mueseum to learn about flight. Georgina pulled her tooth out.She also gave our family treasures to the museum. We saw Hawks, Falcons, Kiwi's, Penguins and lots of other interesting birds. I learned that Mammal bones are heavier and bigger than bird bones. I enjoyed the trip to the museum and I am definently going to their exhibit next year about the Moa.

My Shoe

My shoe is elegant and glossy. It loves to shop, walk in the park and hang out with friends. It is very impatient but doesn't like to run, jump and skip all the time. It's end is ruffled and it hates getting muddy and messy. It will last a day walking around town but never running around a hockey field. 

The House Challenge

On the last day of Term 2 we had our fourth house challenge. Kowhai is yellow, Miro is red and Tawa is blue. Tawa was up first then it was Kowhai and finally Miro. All the houses did a good job but in the end Tawa won again! Afterwards Tawa was on the shield. Maybe next time another house might just win!

Homework

Last week we had to learn about the planets and Puanga. We also had to write about our favourite book. The homework was really fun and I hope this week's homework will be fun again.
Congratulations to Ethan, Renee, Ella, Rebekah, Georgina, Anna and me who all got great work of the week for homework!

Puanga

In June it is time for Matariki, Puanga and Tautoru to come out. People have a feast and come together to celebrate. At school we had to make a booklet about Puanga. It included an acrostic poem about Puanga, a definition of Puanga, a title page and lots more! I had a lot of fun learning about Matariki, Tautoru and Puanga. I can't wait until next year!
